2.0 TSI / TFSI DEDA (EA888 Gen3) — better than factory

The 2.0 TSI / TFSI DEDA (EA888 Gen3) is a four-cylinder turbo engine with 140 kW (190 hp), installed in: Volkswagen Golf VIII (CD1), Volkswagen Tiguan (AD1), Audi A3 (8Y), Seat Leon (KL1) — model years 2019–2023. The engine is considered robust, but it has design-related weak points in the oil pump and timing chain that can become a cost trap over time. MIK doesn't just rebuild this engine — we replace the known weak points with revised components.

MIK Upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

The work carried out includes not only the renewal of all wear parts, bolts, and seals as well as the machining of the mating and running surfaces, but also the replacement of components that are factory-marked with weak points and the Limit the motor lifetime.

• upgraded oil pump
  The biggest weak point of this engine is its oil pump, which does not deliver enough oil pressure from the factory and repeatedly leads to failures. Without sufficient oil pressure, error messages, rattling noises, and loss of power quickly become noticeable and almost always result in engine damage. For this reason, we use a specially developed oil pump that increases oil pressure across the entire rev range and protects the engine from wear.
• Reinforced pistons
  With increased performance or sporty driving, this engine is more prone to piston damage in the ring zone. It is not uncommon for oil consumption of 0.5 l/1000 km or more to occur, while compression and performance drop noticeably. The higher temperature in the combustion chamber places particular strain on the pistons and valves. Modified pistons, improved piston rings, and a specially honed cylinder surface provide the remedy.
• High-quality bearing shells
  During the overhaul, all components are measured and machined with precision. The bearing clearance between the individual components is set to lifetime and performance and ensures particularly smooth engine operation. Combined with high-quality bearing shells, this engine is also ideally suited for sporty drivers.
• Reinforced timing chain set
  The increased wear of the timing chain is largely due to the chain design and the freedom of movement of the chain links on the guide rails. A modified chain design and a special guide-rail geometry ensure maximum lifetime of the timing chain in this engine.
