The 2.0 TSI/TFSI (EA888 Gen2) with engine code CJKA is a widely used engine in the VAG Group (VW, Audi, SEAT, Skoda) — with known weak points that regularly occur at high mileage or with sporty driving. MIK Motoren does not simply rebuild this engine back to factory standard, but specifically eliminates the original design weaknesses. The result: a replacement engine that is better than factory.

MIK Upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

The 2.0 TSI/TFSI (EA888 Gen2) has engine-specific weak points that we know from years of hands-on experience. Our upgrades are not a marketing gimmick — they are the direct answer to the most common failure patterns.

• Upgraded oil pump — The biggest weak point of this engine is its oil pump, which from the factory does not build enough oil pressure and repeatedly leads to failures. Without sufficient oil pressure, error messages, rattling noises, and a loss of power quickly become noticeable and almost always lead to engine damage. For this reason, we rely on a specially developed oil pump that increases oil pressure across the entire rev range and protects the engine from wear.
• Reinforced pistons — When tuned for more power or driven in a sporty way, this engine is more prone to piston damage in the ring zone. It is not uncommon for oil consumption to reach 0.5L/1000km or more, and compression as well as power drop significantly. The increased temperature in the combustion chamber then puts especially high stress on pistons and valves. Modified pistons, improved piston rings, and a specially honed cylinder surface provide the remedy.
• High-quality bearing shells — During the overhaul, all components are precisely measured and machined. The bearing clearance between the individual components is set for lifetime and performance, ensuring especially smooth engine running. Combined with high-quality bearing shells, this engine is then also ideally suited for the sporty driver.
• Reinforced timing chain set — The increased wear of the timing chain is largely related to the chain's design and the freedom of movement of the chain links on the guide rails. A modified chain design, along with a special guide rail geometry, ensures maximum lifetime of the timing chains in this engine.
