Engine overhaul / replacement engine 2.0 TSI / TFSI CCZC (EA888 Gen2) rebuild — better than factory standard

The CCZC is a 2.0-liter TSI/TFSI four-cylinder engine (EA888 Gen2) from the Volkswagen Group with 200–220 hp, widely used in Audi, VW, Seat, and Škoda vehicles. MIK Motoren rebuilds this engine to a level that significantly surpasses its original factory condition — known weak points such as oil consumption and timing chain wear are permanently eliminated.

MIK upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

The work carried out includes not only renewing all wear parts, bolts and seals, as well as machining the mating and running surfaces, but also replacing components that are marked ex works with weak points and the Limit the motor's lifetime.

  • upgrade oil pump — The biggest weak point of this engine is its oil pump, which from the factory does not generate enough oil pressure and keeps failing. Without sufficient oil pressure, error messages, rattling noises and power loss quickly become noticeable and almost always lead to engine damage. For this reason, we rely on a specially developed oil pump that increases oil pressure across the entire rev range and protects the engine from wear.
  • reinforced pistons — When driven with increased performance or in a sporty manner, this engine is more prone to piston damage in the ring zone. It is not uncommon for oil consumption of 0.5L/1000km or more to occur, and compression as well as power drop noticeably. The higher temperature in the combustion chamber then places particular strain on the pistons and valves. Modified pistons, improved piston rings and a specially honed cylinder surface provide the remedy.
  • high-quality bearing shells — During the overhaul, all components are precisely measured and machined. The bearing clearance between the individual components is set for lifetime and performance, ensuring especially smooth engine operation. In combination with high-quality bearing shells, this engine is also ideally suited for sporty drivers.
  • reinforced timing chain set — The increased wear of the timing chain is largely related to the chain's design and the freedom of movement of the chain links on the guide rails. A modified chain design, as well as a special guide rail geometry, ensure maximum lifetime of the timing chains in this engine.

What is the difference between a partial and a full rebuild for the CCZC?

The partial rebuild includes repair of the main wear components: pistons, bearings, seals, and valves. The full rebuild also includes engine block machining, crankshaft inspection, and all MIK upgrades to address known factory weak points. For maximum long-term durability, we recommend the full rebuild.

What are the typical weak points of the CCZC?

The CCZC (EA888 2.0 TSI) often shows timing chain problems, camshaft adjuster wear, and oil leaks. MIK uses upgraded timing chain technology and tested cylinder liners.

Can I bring my vehicle with the CCZC directly to MIK, and will it be reinstalled afterward?

Yes. You can bring your vehicle to our workshop in the Osnabrück/Bielefeld area. Vehicle collection and return are also available on request. We remove the engine, rebuild it, and reinstall it. Alternatively: engine replacement with a rebuilt exchange engine for shorter downtime.

How long does the CCZC rebuild take and how much does it cost?

The rebuild usually takes 5–10 working days, depending on the extent of the damage. On request, you will receive LIVE video documentation of the work. Prices start from 3819€. We will prepare an individual quote for you with an exact diagnosis on request.
