The BYD is a 2.0-litre TFSI four-cylinder from the Volkswagen Group (EA113 Gen1) with 200 hp, used in numerous Audi, VW, Seat, and Škoda models. From the factory, this engine suffers from known weak points around the oil pump and pistons — at MIK Motoren, these are not only fixed, but permanently eliminated.

MIK upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

The work carried out includes not only the replacement of all wear parts, bolts, and gaskets, as well as machining the mating and running surfaces, but also the replacement of components that are marked at the factory with weak points and the Limit the motor's lifetime.

• upgrade oil pump — The biggest weakness of this engine is its oil pump, which from the factory, in combination with a balance shaft module, does not deliver enough oil pressure and repeatedly leads to failures. Without sufficient oil pressure, warning messages, rattling noises, and loss of power quickly become noticeable and almost always lead to engine damage. For this reason, we rely on a specially developed oil pump that increases oil pressure across the entire rev range and protects the engine from wear.
• reinforced pistons — When performance-enhanced or driven hard, this engine is more prone to piston damage in the ring area. It is not uncommon for oil consumption to reach 0.5L/1000km or more, and compression as well as power drop significantly. The increased temperature in the combustion chamber puts particular strain on the pistons and valves.
