The BMW N57D30C is a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder diesel with 280–381 hp (M50d), fitted in numerous BMW 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series and X models. MIK Engines eliminates the typical wear patterns of this engine — especially the well-known bearing bore issue and oil pump problem — for permanently reliable operation far beyond original standards.

MIK upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

The work carried out includes not only replacing all wear parts, screws and gaskets, as well as machining the sealing and running surfaces, but also replacing components that are factory-fitted with weak points and the Limit the engine's lifetime.

• upgraded oil pump — The biggest weak point of this engine is its oil pump, which from the factory does not generate enough oil pressure and repeatedly causes failures. Without sufficient oil pressure, warning messages, rattling noises and loss of power quickly appear and almost always lead to engine damage. For this reason, we use a specially developed oil pump that increases oil pressure across the entire rpm range and protects the engine from wear.
• Alignment of the bearing bore — As mileage increases, the crankshaft bearing seats in the aluminium engine block shift, so perfect bearing alignment can no longer be guaranteed and engine damage occurs. The main bearing bore must always be honed and fixed with the help of hardened shims. Otherwise, another engine failure is inevitable.
• High-quality bearing shells — As part of the overhaul, all components are precisely measured and machined. The bearing clearance between the individual components is set for lifetime and performance, ensuring exceptionally smooth engine operation. Combined with high-quality bearing shells, this engine is also ideally suited for the performance-oriented driver.
• The correct cylinder liner — Over time, different cylinder liners were used. On the one hand, robust grey cast iron sleeves, and on the other, more vulnerable plasma or AluSil coatings, which tend to develop scoring after only low mileage and affect engine compression. We use exclusively grey cast iron cylinder liners to extend the engine's lifetime.
