2.0 TSI / TFSI CYPA (EA888 Gen3) — better than factory

The 2.0 TSI / TFSI CYPA (EA888 Gen3) is a four-cylinder turbo engine with 140 kW (190 hp), installed in: Volkswagen Golf VII (5G), Volkswagen Passat B8, Audi A3 (8V), Seat Leon (5F) — model years 2014–2020. The engine is considered robust, but it has design-related weak points in the oil pump and timing chain that can become a costly problem over time. MIK doesn't simply rebuild this engine — we replace the known weak points with revised components.

MIK Upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

The work carried out includes not only replacing all wear parts, bolts and gaskets, as well as machining the mating and running surfaces, but also replacing components that are marked at the factory with weak points and the Limit motor lifetime.

• upgraded oil pump
  The biggest weakness of this engine is its oil pump, which does not generate enough oil pressure from the factory and repeatedly causes failures. Without sufficient oil pressure, warning messages, rattling noises and power loss quickly become noticeable and almost always lead to engine damage. For this reason, we rely on a specially developed oil pump that increases oil pressure in every RPM range and protects the engine from wear.
• Reinforced pistons
  When tuned for more power or driven sportily, this engine is increasingly prone to piston damage in the ring area. It is not uncommon to see oil consumption of 0.5 l/1000 km or more, and compression as well as power drop noticeably. The increased temperature in the combustion chamber puts a particular strain on the pistons and valves. Modified pistons, improved piston rings and a specially honed cylinder surface provide a remedy.
• High-quality bearing shells
  As part of the overhaul, all components are measured and machined precisely. The bearing clearance between the individual components is set to lifetime and performance and ensures exceptionally smooth engine operation. Combined with high-quality bearing shells, this engine is then also ideally suited for sporty drivers.
• Reinforced timing chain set
  The increased wear of the timing chain is largely related to the chain design and the freedom of movement of the chain links on the guide rails. A revised chain design and a special guide rail geometry ensure maximum lifetime of the timing chains in this engine.
