Engine overhaul / replacement engine 1.8 TSI / TFSI BYT (EA888 Gen2) reconditioning — better than factory standard

The BYT is a 1.8-liter TSI/TFSI four-cylinder (EA888 Gen2) from the Volkswagen Group with 120–160 hp, widely used in Audi, VW, Seat, and Škoda models. MIK Motoren overhauls this engine to a level that significantly surpasses the original production standard — known weak points such as oil consumption and timing chain wear are permanently eliminated.

MIK-Upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

The work carried out includes not only replacing all wear parts, screws and gaskets, as well as machining the sealing and running surfaces, but also replacing components that are marked from the factory with weak points and the Limit the motor's lifetime.

• upgraded oil pump — The biggest weakness of this engine is its oil pump, which does not deliver enough oil pressure from the factory and repeatedly leads to failures. Without sufficient oil pressure, warning messages, rattling noises and loss of power quickly become noticeable and almost always result in engine damage. For this reason, we rely on a specially developed oil pump that increases oil pressure across every rpm range and protects the engine from wear.
• Reinforced pistons — When tuned for more power or driven hard, this engine is more prone to piston damage in the ring area. It is not uncommon to see oil consumption of 0.5L/1000km or more, and compression as well as performance drop noticeably. The higher temperature in the combustion chamber places particular stress on the pistons and valves. Modified pistons, improved piston rings and a specially honed cylinder surface provide a remedy.
• High-quality bearing shells — As part of the overhaul, all components are precisely measured and machined. The bearing clearance between the individual components is set for lifetime and performance, ensuring exceptionally smooth engine operation. Combined with high-quality bearing shells, this engine is also ideally suited for the performance-oriented driver.
• Reinforced timing chain set — The increased wear of the timing chain is largely related to the chain design and the freedom of movement of the chain links on the guide rails. A modified chain design, along with a special guide rail geometry, ensures maximum lifetime of the timing chains in this engine.
