Delivery times

Engine Rebuild 2.8 VR6 AAA Replacement Engine — Better Than Factory

The 2.8 VR6 is a legendary powerplant from the VAG group — with its unique sound, strong performance, but also known wear points. MIK Motoren does not rebuild this engine back to factory standard; instead, it goes beyond that in a targeted way: weak points are eliminated, and critical components are replaced with higher-quality alternatives. The result: a VR6 that lasts better than the original.

MIK Upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

Thanks to the VR6's characteristic angled cylinder layout, it has specific wear patterns. Our upgrades are tailored precisely to these characteristics — developed from hundreds of rebuilt VR6 engines.

Reinforced timing chain kit — The increased wear of the timing chain is largely related to the chain's design and the freedom of movement of the chain links on the guide rails. A modified chain design, along with a special guide rail geometry and a spring-loaded chain tensioner, ensure maximum lifetime of the timing chains in this engine.
High-quality bearing shells — As part of the overhaul, all components are precisely measured and machined. The bearing clearance between the individual components is set for lifetime and performance, ensuring especially smooth engine operation. Combined with high-quality bearing shells, this engine is then also ideally suited for the performance-oriented driver.
The correct piston clearance — Due to the angled cylinders of the VR engine, increased wear occurs in the upper part of the bore. We bore and hone every engine block to oversize, so that together with new oversize pistons we achieve like-new piston clearance.

The reconditioning of the AAA at MIK Motoren includes complete disassembly, measurement of all components, replacement of worn parts with original-quality parts or MIK upgrades, as well as assembly and dyno testing. All work is carried out in our workshop in the Osnabrück/Bielefeld area.
