Engine rebuild / replacement engine 2.0 TDI (CR) CKUB - VW Crafter reconditioning — better than factory

The 2.0 TDI common-rail with engine code CKUB is one of the most widely used diesel engines in the VAG group — and it has well-known design weaknesses that, without targeted upgrades, will sooner or later lead to engine failure. These include an undersized oil pump with a timing belt drive, as well as an increased risk of piston damage during sporty or performance-enhanced use. MIK Engines completely reworks every CKUB, and also eliminates these weaknesses with proven upgrade measures — the result permanently exceeds factory condition.

MIK upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

In addition to renewing all wear parts, every MIK CKUB receives four engine-specific upgrades that eliminate the most common causes of failure:

Upgraded oil pump — The biggest weak point of the CKUB is the standard oil pump: too little oil pressure across all engine speed ranges. Warning messages, rattling noises, and loss of power announce the impending engine failure. MIK uses a specially developed high-performance oil pump that increases oil pressure consistently and reliably.
Timing chain instead of timing belt — The factory oil pump timing belt runs in oil, can snap, and from the very first mile contaminates the engine oil with rubber abrasion. MIK replaces it with a proven timing chain — wear-free drive, permanently clean engine oil.
Reinforced pistons — In performance-enhanced or sporty use, the CKUB tends to suffer piston damage in the ring area, increased oil consumption, and loss of compression. MIK uses modified pistons with improved piston rings and a specially honed cylinder surface.
High-quality bearing shells — All components are precisely measured, and the bearing play is adjusted for lifetime and performance. High-quality bearing cups ensure smooth operation — even in continuous use and under load.
