The Mini/BMW N14B16C is a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 174–211 hp (JCW), used in sporty Mini models such as the Clubman, Roadster, and John Cooper Works. MIK upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

The work carried out includes not only replacing all wear parts, bolts, and gaskets, as well as machining the sealing and running surfaces, but also replacing components that are marked as weak points at the factory and the Limit the engine's lifetime.

• upgrade oil pump — The biggest weak point of this engine is its oil pump, which does not produce enough oil pressure from the factory and repeatedly leads to failures. Without sufficient oil pressure, warning messages, rattling noises, and loss of power quickly become noticeable and almost always lead to engine damage. That is why we use a specially developed oil pump that increases oil pressure across the entire rev range and protects the engine from wear.
• Reinforced pistons — When tuned for more power or driven hard, this engine is more prone to piston damage in the ring land area. It is not uncommon for oil consumption to reach 0.5L/1000km or more, and compression and performance drop noticeably. The higher combustion chamber temperature puts particular strain on the pistons and valves. Modified pistons, improved piston rings, and a specially honed cylinder surface provide the solution.
• High-quality bearing shells — During the overhaul, all components are precisely measured and machined. The bearing clearance between the individual components is set for lifetime and performance, ensuring particularly smooth engine operation. Combined with high-quality bearing shells, this engine is also ideally suited for sporty drivers.
• Reinforced timing chain set — The increased wear on the timing chain is largely related to the chain's design and the freedom of movement of the chain links on the guide rails. A modified chain design, along with a special guide rail geometry, ensures maximum lifetime of the timing chains in this engine.
