1.8 TSI / TFSI CJEE (EA888 Gen3) — better than factory standard

The 1.8 TSI / TFSI CJEE (EA888 Gen3) is a four-cylinder turbo engine with 125 kW (170 hp), installed in: Audi A3 (8V), Volkswagen Golf VII (5G), Seat Leon (5F), Škoda Octavia III — model years 2013–2019. The engine is considered robust, but it has design-related weak points in the oil pump and timing chain that can become a costly problem over time. MIK does not simply rebuild this engine — we replace the known weak points with revised components.

MIK Upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

The work carried out includes not only the renewal of all wear parts, bolts and seals, as well as the machining of the sealing and running surfaces, but also the replacement of components that are factory-marked with weak points and the Limit the motor lifetime.

• upgraded oil pump
  The biggest weak point of this engine is its oil pump, which does not deliver enough oil pressure from the factory and repeatedly leads to failures. Without sufficient oil pressure, warning messages, rattling noises and loss of power quickly become noticeable and almost always lead to engine damage. For this reason, we use a specially developed oil pump that increases the oil pressure across the entire rev range and protects the engine from wear.
• Reinforced pistons
  When tuned for more power or driven hard, this engine is increasingly prone to piston damage in the ring area. It is not uncommon for oil consumption to reach 0.5 l/1000 km or more, while compression and power drop significantly. The higher temperature in the combustion chamber places particular strain on the pistons and valves. Modified pistons, improved piston rings and a specially honed cylinder surface provide a remedy.
• High-quality bearing shells
  As part of the overhaul, all components are measured and machined precisely. The bearing clearance between the individual components is set to lifetime and performance and thus ensures exceptionally smooth engine operation. In combination with high-quality bearing shells, this engine is then ideally suited even for sporty driving.
• Reinforced timing chain set
  The increased wear of the timing chain is largely due to the chain design and the freedom of movement of the chain links on the slide rails. A revised chain construction and a special slide rail geometry ensure maximum lifetime of the timing chains in this engine.
