1.8 TSI / TFSI DAJA (EA888 Gen3) — better than factory standard

The 1.8 TSI / TFSI DAJA (EA888 Gen3) is a four-cylinder turbo engine with 132 kW (180 hp), installed in: Volkswagen Tiguan (AD1), Volkswagen Passat B8, Audi A3 (8V), Seat Ateca (KH7) — model years 2016–2021. The engine is considered robust, but it has design-related weak points in the oil pump and timing chain that can become a cost trap over time. MIK does not simply rebuild this engine — we replace the known weak points with revised components.

MIK Upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

The work carried out includes not only the renewal of all wear parts, screws, and seals, as well as the machining of the mating and running surfaces, but also the replacement of components that are factoryweak pointstagged and theLimit the motor lifetime.

• upgraded oil pump
  The biggest weak point of this engine is its oil pump, which does not generate enough oil pressure from the factory and repeatedly causes failures. Without sufficient oil pressure, fault messages, rattling noises, and loss of power quickly become noticeable and almost always lead to engine damage. For this reason, we use our own specially developed oil pump, which increases the oil pressurein every engine speed range and protects the engine from wear.
• Reinforced pistons
  When tuned for more power or driven sportily, this engine is increasingly prone to piston damage in the ring area. It is not uncommon for oil consumption of 0.5 l/1000 km or more to occur, while compression and performance drop noticeably. The higher temperature in the combustion chamber puts particular strain on the pistons and valves. Modified pistons, improved piston rings, and a specially honed cylinder surface provide a remedy.
• High-quality bearing shells
  As part of the overhaul, all components are precisely measured and machined. The bearing clearance between the individual components is set tolifetime and performance and thus ensures particularly smooth engine operation. Combined with high-quality bearing shells, this engine is also ideally suited to sporty drivers.
• Reinforced timing chain set
  The increased wear of the timing chain is largely due to the chain design and the freedom of movement of the chain links on the slide rails. A revised chain design and a special slide rail geometry ensuremaximum lifetime of the timing chain in this engine.
