2.0 TSI / TFSI CJXA (EA888 Gen3) — better than factory standard

The 2.0 TSI / TFSI CJXA (EA888 Gen3) is a four-cylinder turbo engine with 162 kW (220 PS), installed in: Volkswagen Golf VII GTI (5G), Volkswagen Arteon (3H), Seat Leon Cupra (5F) — model years 2015–2020. The engine is considered robust, but it has design-related weak points in the oil pump and timing chain that can become a costly problem over time. MIK does not simply rebuild this engine — we replace the known weak points with revised components.

MIK upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

The work carried out includes not only the replacement of all wear parts, screws, and seals as well as the machining of the mating and contact surfaces, but also the replacement of components that are marked from the factory with weak points and the Limit the motor lifetime.

• upgraded oil pump
  The biggest weakness of this engine is its oil pump, which does not deliver enough oil pressure from the factory and repeatedly causes failures. Without sufficient oil pressure, warning messages, rattling noises, and power loss quickly become noticeable and almost always lead to engine damage. For this reason, we rely on a specially developed oil pump that increases oil pressure across the entire RPM range and protects the engine from wear.
• Reinforced pistons
  When tuned for more power or driven in a sporty manner, this engine is increasingly prone to piston damage in the ring area. Oil consumption of 0.5 l/1000 km or more is not uncommon, and compression as well as power drop noticeably. The increased temperature in the combustion chamber places particular strain on the pistons and valves. Modified pistons, improved piston rings, and a specially honed cylinder surface provide the remedy.
• High-quality bearing shells
  As part of the overhaul, all components are measured and machined precisely. The bearing clearance between the individual components is set to lifetime and performance and thus ensures especially smooth engine running. In combination with high-quality bearing shells, this engine is also ideally suited for sporty drivers.
• Reinforced timing chain kit
  The increased wear of the timing chain is largely due to the chain design and the freedom of movement of the chain links on the guide rails. A revised chain design and a special guide rail geometry ensure maximum lifetime of the timing chain in this engine.
