Delivery times

Unless a different deadline is specified in the respective offer, the goods will be delivered domestically (Germany) within 5 - 7 days, and for international deliveries within 7 - 10 days after conclusion of the contract (if advance payment has been agreed, after the time of your payment instruction).

Engine Rebuild 1.4 TSI / TFSI CAVD (EA111) — better than factory fresh

The 1.4 TSI/TFSI CAVD from the EA111 family combines turbo and supercharger charging for 122–180 hp — compact, efficient, but with a well-known timing chain issue. MIK Motoren fully rebuilds this engine and installs a reinforced timing chain set for long-term operation.

MIK upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

The EA111 with code CAVD typically suffers from timing chain wear and piston problems. Our upgrades are tailored precisely to these weak points.

Upgraded oil pump The biggest weak point of this engine is its oil pump, which does not deliver enough oil pressure from the factory and repeatedly causes failures. Without sufficient oil pressure, warning messages, rattling noises, and loss of power appear quickly and almost always lead to engine failure. For this reason, we use a specially developed oil pump that increases oil pressure across the entire rpm range and protects the engine from wear.
Reinforced pistons When boosted or driven hard, this engine is increasingly prone to piston damage in the ring zone. It is not uncommon to see oil consumption of 0.5L/1000km or more, and compression as well as performance drop noticeably. The increased temperature in the combustion chamber then puts particular strain on the pistons and valves. The remedy is modified pistons, improved piston rings, and a specially honed cylinder surface.
High-quality bearing shellsDuring the overhaul, all components are precisely measured and machined. The bearing clearance between the individual components is set for lifetime and performance, ensuring particularly smooth engine operation. Combined with high-quality bearing shells, this engine is also ideally suited for the performance-oriented driver.
Reinforced timing chain kitThe increased wear of the timing chain is largely related to the chain's design and the freedom of movement of the chain links on the guide rails. A modified chain design, along with a special guide rail geometry, ensures maximum lifetime of the timing chains in this engine.

How much does the CAVD engine overhaul cost?

The CAVD engine overhaul starts at 3819 € for the partial overhaul without installation. With removal & installation service, it is approx. 7819 €. The complete service incl. vehicle pickup is approx. 8565 €. Prices plus VAT.

What are the MIK upgrades for the CAVD?

On the CAVD, in addition to all wear parts, we also replace the well-known weak points of the production engine. This means: reinforced components, optimized sealing surfaces, and parts that significantly increase the lifetime far beyond new-car standards.

How long does the engine overhaul take?

The overhaul usually takes 5-10 working days from the time the engine arrives at our facility. For engines with severe damage (e.g. engine damage caused by lack of oil), it may take a little longer. We will keep you informed throughout the entire processing time.

What warranty do I receive on the overhauled engine?

We provide a 24-month warranty on all MIK replacement engines. The warranty covers material and workmanship defects. A professional installation and the use of the specified engine oils in accordance with our installation instructions are required.
