Engine overhaul / replacement engine 2.0 TFSI BYK (EA113 Gen1) rebuild — better than factory

The BYK is a 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder from the Volkswagen Group (EA113 Gen1) with 200 hp, installed in numerous Audi, VW, Seat, and Škoda models. From the factory, this engine suffers from known weak points around the oil pump and pistons — at MIK Motoren, these are not only fixed, but permanently eliminated.

MIK upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

The work carried out includes not only replacing all wear parts, bolts, and gaskets, as well as machining the sealing and running surfaces, but also replacing components that are marked with weak points and the Limit the motor's lifetime.

• upgrade oil pump — The biggest weak point of this engine is its oil pump, which from the factory, in conjunction with a balance shaft module, does not deliver enough oil pressure and repeatedly leads to failures. Without sufficient oil pressure, warning messages, rattling noises, and loss of power quickly become noticeable and almost always lead to engine damage. For this reason, we use a specially developed oil pump that increases oil pressure across the entire rev range and protects the engine from wear.
• Reinforced pistons — When tuned for more power or driven hard, this engine is increasingly prone to piston damage in the ring area. It is not uncommon for oil consumption to reach 0.5L/1000km or more, and compression and power drop noticeably. The increased temperature in the combustion chamber then puts particular strain on the pistons and valves. The solution is modified pistons, improved piston rings, and a specially honed cylinder surface.
• High-quality bearing shells — As part of the overhaul, all components are precisely measured and machined. The bearing clearance between the individual components is set for lifetime and performance, ensuring particularly smooth engine operation. Combined with high-quality bearing shells, this engine is then also ideally suited for sporty drivers.
