Every M157.983 from MIK receives, in addition to the complete renewal of all wear parts, engine-specific upgrades that permanently eliminate known weak points:

Upgraded oil pump — The most critical weakness of the M157.983 is the standard oil pump, which delivers too little oil pressure across all engine speeds. Fault messages, rattling noises, and engine damage are the result. MIK uses a specially developed high-performance oil pump that reliably increases oil pressure at every engine speed.
Bearing housing alignment — As mileage increases, the crankshaft bearing seats shift in the aluminum engine block. Perfect alignment can no longer be guaranteed. MIK hones the main bearing housing and secures it with hardened shims — an essential step that prevents another engine failure.
High-quality bearing shells — All components are measured precisely, and the bearing clearance is adjusted for lifetime and performance. High-quality bearing cups ensure especially smooth running — even under sporty loads.
Cast-iron cylinder liners — From the factory, some engines were fitted with susceptible plasma or AluSil coatings, which tend to develop scoring and compression loss after relatively little mileage. MIK uses only robust cast-iron liners for maximum durability.
