The 2.0 TSI/TFSI (EA888 Gen3) with engine code CJXC is a widely used power unit from the VAG Group (VW, Audi, SEAT, Skoda) — with well-known weak points that regularly occur at high mileage or with sporty driving. MIK Motoren does not simply restore this engine to factory standard, but specifically eliminates the original design weaknesses. The result: a replacement engine that is better than factory standard.

MIK Upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

The 2.0 TSI/TFSI (EA888 Gen3) has engine-specific weak points that we know from years of practical experience. Our upgrades are not a marketing gimmick — they are the direct answer to the most common damage patterns.

• Upgraded oil pump — The biggest weak point of this engine is its oil pump, which from the factory does not generate enough oil pressure and keeps causing failures. Without sufficient oil pressure, warning messages, rattling noises, and power loss quickly become noticeable and almost always lead to engine damage. For this reason, we use a specially developed oil pump that increases oil pressure across the entire RPM range and protects the engine from wear.
• Reinforced pistons — When performance is increased or the engine is driven hard, it is more prone to piston damage in the ring area. It is not uncommon for oil consumption to rise to 0.5L/1000km or more, and compression as well as power drop significantly. The higher combustion chamber temperature then puts particular stress on the pistons and valves. Modified pistons, improved piston rings, and a specially honed cylinder surface provide a remedy.
• High-quality bearing shells — During the overhaul, all components are precisely measured and machined. The bearing clearance between the individual components is set for lifetime and performance, ensuring particularly smooth engine running. Combined with high-quality bearing shells, this engine is then ideally suited for the performance-oriented driver as well.
• Reinforced timing chain set — The increased wear of the timing chain is largely related to the design of the chain and the freedom of movement of the chain links on the guide rails. A modified chain design, along with a special guide rail geometry, ensures maximum lifetime of the timing chains in this engine.
