The VW 2.8 VR6 24V with engine code BDE is known for its distinctive sound and smooth running — but also for specific wear issues that, if left untreated, can lead to premature engine failure. Typical issues: timing chain wear caused by design weaknesses in the original drive system, as well as increased cylinder wear due to the angled VR design. MIK Motoren eliminates these weak points in a targeted way — the result is an engine that runs more reliably than the original.

MIK Upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

In addition to completely renewing all wear parts, every BDE receives three key upgrades:

Reinforced timing chain set — The increased timing chain wear on the VR6 is largely related to the chain design and the guide rails. MIK uses a modified chain kit with special guide rail geometry and a spring-loaded chain tensioner — for maximum lifetime of the timing system.
Precise piston clearance — The angled cylinders of the VR engine create increased wear in the upper bore area. MIK bores and hones each engine block to oversize and combines it with matching oversize pistons — for factory-new piston clearance.
High-quality bearing shells — The bearing clearance of all components is set for lifetime and performance. High-quality bearing shells ensure particularly smooth engine running, even under sporty loads.
