2.0 TFSI AXX (EA113 Gen1) — better than factory

The 2.0 TFSI AXX (EA113 Gen1) is a four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 147 kW (200 hp), installed in: Volkswagen Golf V GTI (1K), Volkswagen Eos (1F), Audi A3 (8P), Seat Leon Cupra (1P) — model years 2004–2009. The factory balance shaft module in combination with the oil pump is the well-known weak point of this engine generation — MIK replaces the module with an in-house high-pressure pump, thereby addressing the root cause of engine damage.

MIK upgrades — why this engine lasts longer

The work carried out includes not only the replacement of all wear parts, screws and seals as well as the machining of the mating and running surfaces, but also the replacement of components that are factory-fitted with weak points and the Limit the motor lifetime.

• upgrade oil pump
  The biggest weak point of this engine is its oil pump, which in factory form, in conjunction with a balance shaft module, does not generate enough oil pressure and repeatedly leads to failures. Without sufficient oil pressure, warning messages, rattling noises and loss of power quickly become noticeable and almost always lead to engine damage. For this reason, we rely on a specially developed oil pump that increases oil pressure across the entire rev range and protects the engine from wear.
• Reinforced pistons
  With increased power or sporty driving, this engine is increasingly prone to piston damage in the ring land area. It is not uncommon for oil consumption of 0.5 l/1000 km or more to occur, while compression and performance drop significantly. The increased temperature in the combustion chamber puts particular stress on the pistons and valves. Modified pistons, improved piston rings and a specially honed cylinder surface provide the remedy.
• High-quality bearing shells
  As part of the overhaul, all components are precisely measured and machined. The bearing clearance between the individual components is set to lifetime and performance to ensure especially smooth engine operation. In combination with high-quality bearing shells, this engine is then also ideally suited for sporty drivers.
